Fibre Mood - GRETA jacket Sewing Pattern

Fibre Mood - GRETA jacket Sewing Pattern

Greta is for those who love special details and a challenge. The seams are sewn with the wrong sides facing and finished with bias binding for a striking effect. The bound buttonholes make Greta a challenging sewing project, but you can always choose standard buttonholes if you prefer an easier option. Greta features welt pockets at the front and a neckline finished with an optional rib-knit collar. Looking for a nice accessory to go with this jacket? A belt will pull the whole outfit together beautifully. A project as versatile as you are.

Sewing level: intermediate

Materials & supplies:

  • Thread
  • Iron-on interfacing: max. 85 cm
  • Buttons (Ø 2 to 2.5 cm): 4 (XS-L), 5 (XL-XXXL)
  • Bias tape (folded width 2 to 2.5 cm): see table
  • Bias tape for pocket welt (folded width 2 cm): max. 25 cm (optional; you can also use the pattern piece)
  • Rib knit (width 35 cm): max. 30 cm (optional)
  • Main fabric (with texture)for pieces 1 to 4: see table
  • Contrast fabric (without texture) for pieces 6 to 11: see table

Fabric recommendations:

Choose teddy or shearling fabric to give this jacket its cosy appeal. The soft pile and voluminous texture of these materials enhance the design’s relaxed, snuggly look. Bouclé or soft felt are also excellent choices for a chic winter version. Avoid fabrics that are too thin or – this jacket looks best in fabrics with body that highlight its silhouette and texture beautifully. For the smaller parts (such as the pockets, facings, etc.), use a contrast fabric without texture, such as canvas or twill.
