Fibre Mood - BOREAL Sweater Sewing Pattern

Fibre Mood - BOREAL Sweater Sewing Pattern

From chill to active: Boreal is a cropped sweater with that little bit extra. The balloon sleeves with original inserts create a unique look, while the ribbed hem and neckline ensure a wonderfully comfortable fit. Prefer a slightly longer version? No problem, extending it is super easy. Wear it with high-waisted jeans, cosy Arya joggers or over a sporty Denver or Dymar top. Comfy chic guaranteed!

Sewing level: beginner

Materials & supplies:

  • Thread
  • Iron-on interfacing
  • Rib knit

Fabric recommendations:

Sweater fabric (brushed or unbrushed), French terry, or interlock jersey with a neat, slightly stiffer drape.

For a smoother finish: scuba, Punto di Roma or a double knit.

Fibre content: Cotton blend or viscose/polyester blend with 5-8% elastane for shape retention.

Weight: Medium to heavy (approx. 240-320 g/m2) - choose heavier for structure, lighter for drape.

Contrast fabric (optional): Think nylon, faux leather, ribbed knit, or mesh for details like inserts, side panels, or sleeve panels.

Finishing tip: Use rib knit to finish the neckline and hem.
